MVCF Railway Station Cycle Parking Survey

Welcome to the Mole Valley Cycle Forum station cycle parking survey. The website provides CTC volunteers with a facility to record both the cycle parking facilities provided at their local stations and the numbers of cycles using these facilities.

Data collected will periodically be downloaded and forwarded to participating organizations and individuals on a regular basis, enabling periodic analysis of usage trends.

In order to reduce variability and simplify analysis, we do not recommend collecting information other than during working hours on weekdays. In ideal circumstances parking data should be collected on five consecutive days, four times a year, not on public or school holidays. That said, data entered on weekends or outside our preferred hours of 10.00 to 15.00 does not present difficulties, and can be entered. We would also note that data collected in previous years can be uploaded provided it meets the collection criteria above.

We would note that input data is based on a national survey previously carried out in 2003 by CTC, on behalf of the Department of Transport, and accepted travel survey methodologies, so can be compared directly with that study.

It is also the intention to keep the site open as long as it is useful as a means to generate good quality time-series data on cycle parking at stations.
